IT'S NICE TO HAVE A NICE DAY™

A community for families who've lost children — built on love, not loss.

After losing Aparna on November 17, 2024, our family found ourselves in a year of quiet — the kind of silence that only comes when the world moves on, but your heart doesn't. In that stillness, we realized what we missed most wasn't just her — it was the feeling she brought to everyone around her: lightness, generosity, laughter, connection, joy and, above all, kindness.

Nice Day is our way of sharing that feeling again — by bringing together families who understand this kind of loss, to rediscover small moments of peace, joy, and togetherness.

Celebrating Aparna

Aparna's name means goddess of love, and that's exactly what she embodied for everyone she met. She had a way of making people feel seen — of turning ordinary moments into something special. She loved to say "you've got this" to encourage people, believing deeply in their potential even when they doubted themselves.

An avid reader and dreamer, Aparna found magic in the worlds of Foundation, Lord of the Rings, Star Trek, and Dune — stories about humanity, hope, and building better futures against impossible odds. That spirit lives on in Nice Day.

Aparna was a person of many passions who lived life. She loved musical theater, skiing, travel and pets. She was equally at home on the stage and on the slopes.

When she passed, we didn't just lose her; we lost the connections she naturally created between people. Nice Day was born from a wish to rebuild that — not by focusing on sorrow, but by celebrating the warmth, laughter, and shared understanding that come when families like ours find each other again.

Every family who has lost a child carries a story that deserves space, compassion, and light. Through Nice Day, we hope to give that space back — one day, one gathering, one "nice day" at a time.

What We're Building

Nice Day is a growing community for families who have experienced the loss of a child. Our goal is simple: to create moments that remind us life can still be kind.

We're starting small — by hosting gatherings where families can come together not to grieve, but to share life again. Movie nights, picnics, community theater, game days — spaces where healing happens quietly, through laughter and connection.

Our first goal is to host a pilot event that honors all our children's lives — a night of togetherness that ends with a lantern ceremony for every child we celebrate.

This is just the beginning.
